Abstract :
In this paper, a new simple control method for current source active power filters which can realize the complete compensation of the harmonic currents is proposed. In the proposed controller, a new compensating current reference generator employing loss-less resonant elements implemented by a digital signal processor (DSP) is introduced. Although the loss-less resonant elements can be implemented using a simple algorithm, they can provide the two important functions; the extraction of the harmonic components of the total input current and the modification of the compensating current reference signal to cancel the effects of the AC side LC filter on the phase angle and amplitude of the compensating current. From the results of the experiment employing a laboratory test system, it is demonstrated that the complete compensation of the harmonic components in the input current can be achieved
