Abstract :
Target identification is important in coastal radars to separate air and sea targets. In this paper a novel algorithm for identification of air and sea targets in coastal radars is presented. For this purpose, a multiple PRF technique along with a maximum likelihood frequency estimation method has been used. Then an intelligent algorithm, based on artificial neural networks, or a simple and efficient algorithm are utilized for resolving the Doppler frequency ambiguity and the classification of sea and air targets. Our simulation and practical results have shown that this method has an excellent performance to identify air and sea targets in coastal radars, even in low SNRs
