Abstract
A new generation of compact microwave bandpass filters (BPF) is proposed. The filters are based on multilayer ring resonators (MRR) technique which is applicable to both narrow band and ultra-wideband (UWB) bandpass filters. This class of filters has very compact circuit size and simple structure for fabrication. Multiple attenuation poles exist and can be simply placed to the left or right of the passband. The dimensions of the filters can be designed to around 2 mm à 2 mm à 1 mm. Out of the five filters presented, two of them are fabricated and measured. Good agreement between the simulation and measurements confirmed the design approach.
