Abstract :
The challenging nature of electromagnetic simulation in the time-domain has been discussed extensively in the literature. Many problems are beyond reach with present day conventional resources. Of the several approaches showing potential to alleviate the situation, we focus on algorithmic strategies by examining schemes with low points per wave requirement. Towards this end, we discuss a series of compact, optimized schemes. The 1D scalar advection equation is chosen as a prototype for scheme development. An example is given using the propagation of a three component compact pulse.
