Abstract :
The ancient bricks were produced long time ago, and their unique production process and special heritage value made it hard to detect the strength with direct methods. As a result, it is necessary to find a nondestructive detection technique to take the place of direct detection method. Rebound method is a kind of widely used nondestructive testing technology. However, it is not verified whether this method is suitable for the detection of ancient wall or not. What´s more, there´s none strength curve for ancient brick nondestructive detection with rebound method. There is none strength curve for the ancient brick detecting with rebound method as basis. This paper combined the characteristics of the ancient bricks and the Shanhaiguan Great Wall comprehensive test and evaluation project, studied the application of rebound method in ancient brick detection, analyzed the correlation between the rebound values and the corresponding compressive strength, and established a strength curve of the ancient bricks. According to the project verification, the accuracy of the curve meets the requirements.
