Abstract :
The timing system provides the clock and trigger signals used to synchronize power supplies, waveforms, gas injection, plasma control, diagnostic equipment, and data-acquisition systems on TdeV (Tokamak de Varennes). The two major components of the timing system are the MPB encoder, and decoder CAMAC (computer-assisted monitoring and control) modules which are linked via a fiber optic cable (timing highway) carrying a 1-MHz master clock and timing events. The decoders generate the synchronization signals with a resolution of 1 μs upon recognition of timing events encoded on the timing highway by the encoder modules. The integration of these programmable CAMAC modules, developed to meet the requirements of TdeV, allows the design of a distributed timing system with a simple but flexible architecture
