Abstract :
Firstly, we studies specially the correlation between the transmission path and the propagation delay in terms of shortening the total transmission time. Secondly, based on the idea that none of a routing algorithm is suitable for all ad hoc networks, the paper proposes a new routing protocol to realize both-way communication in a specific kind of underwater acoustic network, which is called SFBASOP (Simply Floating and Bolting A Simple Oriented Path). This protocol absorbs the advantages and essences of the flooding protocols and the ACO protocols, and finally achieves the goal of decreasing the propagation delay through that all packets are transmitted along the path which has been established by flooding frames before. The simulation results show that SFBASOP is more suitable for the specific underwater acoustic network than DREAM and MFR.
