  • Abstract
The remote sensing spectral knowledge base consists of a database, which manages observations obtained by remote sensing field experiments, an image base, which manages images acquired from near land surface platforms, aerial and space platforms, a land surface prior knowledge database which manages DEM and some maps as land-use and land-cover, and a model base, which manages quantitative remote sensing models. On the aspect of implementation of the knowledge base, Oracle, C/C++ and Java are used in the main software development platform, and component technology is applied to. A three tier service model is adopted to support interaction of the user and knowledge base on the World Wide Web, and data, image and model can be browsed and run through the Internet. This paper sets forward the approach to manage and share the knowledge of quantitative remote sensing in order to let valuable resources benefit our view of the planet.
