Abstract :
This paper addresses the problem of control of a crystallization process governed by hyperbolic partial differential equations. Given a desired crystal size distribution, we analyze its reachability using the temperature from the initial condition without seeding. If the desired crystal size distribution is reachable, we are able to construct an admissible control to drive the state to the desired distribution. To ensure that the desired distribution is obtained, we propose an output feedback control law to correct the errors resulted from uncertain model parameters. The states variables which are difficult to be measured are estimated by an observer.
