  • Abstract
Holographic switches are suitable for large switching systems, such as those used in subscriber networks. In our switch, a hologram recording medium is an optically-addressed FLC-SLM, which can record a binary hologram. When voltage is applied, it records the intensity distribution of the write light and retains the written pattern even when the voltage is turned off. We have demonstrated 4×1204 switching to show that our switch is suitable for large-scale switching
