Abstract :
The second-order methods based on the concepts of source and noise subspaces used in signal processing for estimation of direction of arrival with the aid of an array of sensors are limited by the correlation existing between the radiating sources. The algorithms based on space diversity such as spatial smoothing and DEESE offer high decorrelation in some situations and weak decorrelation in others. It is shown that the effective correlation factor after processing by space diversity depends on the phase relationship between the sources, which varies according to frequency. This article presents a multifrequency analysis of the algorithms using space diversity after use of invariances in rotation and translation
