Abstract :
To meet the requirements of the future energy management applications, a new software architecture, the EEM 2001 platform for the supervision unit on a telecom site, has been created. The goals of the new architecture are: to essentially reduce time to market, scalability, new communication techniques shall easily be incorporated, future proof architecture, possibility to distribute design work to various local design centres across the world, and high quality. The basic design principles for the new software architecture are: strict separation between application and platform parts, component based design, separation of logical and physical level. Further, the following state of the art tools and methods are used: object oriented analysis, supported by the UML language, object oriented design with the C++ language, modern design methodology according to the capability maturity model for software, CMM
