Abstract
This paper reports a new configuration for a Mach-Zehnder interferometer electric field sensor without any electrode utilizing the electro-optic effect in x-cut LiNbO3, analyses and discusses the relation between the external electric fields and refractive index change by the use of numerical computation, and presents the process of fabrication. To verify the correctness of the theoretical analysis and feasibility of the sensor, we have conducted direct current experiments for the sensor, and obtained some good results.
