Park green space as the urban´s main public green open space, takes on important mission for ameliorating the urban ecological environment and improving people´s quality of life. The author used survey method, consultation method and check method to investigate and analyze park green space in Changsha. The results has showed that: (1) Changsha has no advantage in per capita indicators of park green space, (2) In the internal composition, special type of parks and comprehensive parks share a larger proportion, 46.2% and 20.5%, but community parks and roadside public green spaces share a smaller proportion, 15.0% and 9.9%, (3) The spatial distribution is very uneven, in Kaifu District and Yuelu District, the area of park green space is better, the proportion are 28.5% and 39.8%, but in Furong District, the proportion is only 4.7%, (4) A serious shortage of community parks and roadside public green spaces has led to the “missing” phenomenon, (5)The number and the area of small and medium size park green space are seriously lagging behind the large ones, this situation has reflected the imperfect grading structure. In order to solve these problems, five measures have been proposed: to implement the system of Green Line, to rationalize the functions of the departments, to strengthen the building of the laws and regulations, to promote public participation, and to emphasis on urban redevelopment.
