Abstract :
The assembly of the BPX (Burning Plasma Experiment) machine presents several unique problems. Of particular interest are the provisions and procedures for the alignment of the toroidal field (TF) modular assemblies in the absence of an upper shelf or center column structure which would otherwise provide for a positive mechanical placement. In addition, the requirements for remote removal and replacement of a TF modular assembly, and the remote replacement of poloidal field coils, also have an impact on the assembly operations. Also considered are the preoperational testing and the remote maintenance validation tasks
