This thesis expounds the action mechanism of scientific and technological progress to pig industry. Based on the statistical data of pig industry in Sichuan province since 1995 to 2009, this paper calculates the contribution rate of pig industry scientific and technological progress by using C-D production function model, and analyzes and compares with the other provinces. The result indicates that, with an average of 59.63%. Material capital is the biggest influencing factor of scientific and technological progress, the second influencing factor is quantity and quality of brood sow. The pig industry lacks scale economic effect. The contribution rate of agricultural scientific and technological progress in the developed provinces is higher than in the developing provinces because of different productive factor endowment.
