            Abstract : 
This paper addresses the interconnection of FIP (Factory instrumentation Protocol) busses by means of bridges. To achieve this end, the following issues which are encountered in this kind of network are dealt with: two completely independent addressing styles exist. Logical addressing by means of objects and classical physical addressing. Frames have various structures and depend moreover on the nature of carried data (objects, messages). Unicast and multicast transactions are of use. A distinction between periodic real-time and aperiodic traffic is made for all types of data. All periodic traffic is to be configured before starting up the application, in the Bus Arbitrator which grants the access right to the medium
