The outline for reform and development of education puts forward that we should improve the quality of talent cultivation and help students learn how to learn. However, in the current situation, the motivation of learner is not from interest, but based on examination and employment. The main method to complete task requirements is to associate facts and concepts unreflectively. This “surface learning” is not good for fostering creative or high quality talents and should be changed. In this paper, it calls for “deep learning” which characterized by an intention to understand-focusing on the concepts applicable to solving problems, relating previous knowledge to new knowledge-and it has an internal or intrinsic motivational emphasis. This paper mainly analyzes the relationship between deep learning and education then tries to quest for educational thoughts which can support deep learning. These educational thoughts including life long education, creative education and postmodernism education will provide guidelines to learning of learn. Knowing from “surface” to “deep” is a necessary step to improve quality of talent cultivation.
