Abstract :
Diversity reception is common for land mobile radio systems. In time division duplex (TDD) systems, transmission diversity as well as diversity reception can be applied for base stations because transfer characteristic correlation is high between uplink and downlink. Nevertheless, transmission diversity can not be applied for control channels, on which paging and other information is transferred, since there are no previous uplink signals. A new control channel transmission strategy to improve the error rate performance is proposed. In this strategy, a base station transmits control channel bursts repeatedly by switching diversity branch or antenna directivity. Computer simulations and experiments show that the strategy has 4-6 dB gain to the conventional one
