Abstract :
A 4 GHz amplifier capable of producing a minimum of 10 W has been designed using a double-balanced structure. This employs 90° and 180° couplers, making possible performance characteristics such as good matching and reduction in second harmonic power. The technology chosen for implementation of the circuit is that of a microstrip line with a substrate of 2.33 and thickness 31 mil. Simulations foresee an output power of 41 dBm, a midband gain of 22 dB and reflections of -43 and -48 dB at input and output respectively. The use of 180° couplers allows a 13 dB reduction in second harmonic level with respect to a circuit using couplers without rejection
