Abstract :
A test of optimality for linear quadratic (LQ) control is presented in this paper. This test is performed on closed-loop systems without parametric model fitting for the process being controlled. Both state and output feedback are addressed for discrete-time, single-input single-output (SISO), linear, time-invariant processes. The results obtained are viewed as the dual of estimation optimality
