Abstract :
This paper describes a new information system concept for CAD, called Design Warehouse. It is inspired from the data warehouse model of W.H. Inmon (1995, 1996). This new concept is the result of an operational application using an object-oriented database in a spatial industrial context. We present the application, BAGHERA, that inspired this concept, and which replies on the need to conserve the know-how of an enterprise. BAGHERA realizes the storage and organisation of all the data produced during the design phase of a satellite and facilitates database navigation with suitable methods and tools. The assessment of the object-oriented database, O2, that is the data storage management component of BAGHERA is detailed. Research problems that are raised by this new kind of application are discussed
