Abstract :
The emergence of smart instruments and field buses associated with the extension of automated system functions which include supervision, maintenance, technical management…objectives lead to the development of distributed intelligent automated systems (DIAS). The design of such systems rests on the analysis of functional, hardware and operational architectures. In this paper, we introduce a model of functional architectures which rests on distribution atoms and which provides some characteristics of the functional architecture. Then, we describe the characteristics which can be used to choose the hardware architecture. We show the problems linked with the validation of this architecture
