A study on the impact of carbon tariffs on trade: As an example of Zhejiang Province

Abstract :
This paper takes Zhejiang Province that ranks the fourth in the country´s total trade as an example, then calculate the energy industry intensity factor of 18 non-energy sectors and 2 energy sectors through the establishment of Zhejiang Energy-Economic input-output model. Integrating with the relevant data in the “Statistical Yearbook of Zhejiang Province in 2007-2009” and “Zhejiang Energy Balance Sheet” to estimate in the case of different carbon tariffs be paid by the province of carbon tariffs. The results show that the carbon emissions increased from 2007 to 2009, and the implementation of carbon tax policy can raise the cost and reduce the international competitiveness of exports in various industries. On the other hand, imposing carbon tariffs will be conducive to promote the firms´ capacity of independent and innovation, forcing firms to achieve product transformation.
