Abstract :
A crank line antenna is composed of many radiating cells. When the line lengths of each radiating cell are appropriately chosen, the antenna radiates a circularly polarized (CP) wave. So far, the CP crank line antenna has been designed for forming a narrow beam in the broadside direction. In this paper, a CP crank line antenna is designed for forming a wide beam which is tilted from the broadside direction. The antenna has only one radiating cell, and its line lengths are chosen so that a CP wave is obtained in the tilted beam direction. The radiation characteristics are evaluated on the basis of the numerically determined current distribution.
