Abstract :
This paper presents novel traffic class dependent resource management techniques for packet switched data over the WCDMA uplink in UMTS. A distributed rate scheduling process is integrated with a centralised admission controller to share the radio resource in a single carrier WCDMA system. This combined resource manager prioritises allocations based on traffic classes and transmission delay deadlines. The use of bitrate variability profiles for limited throughput variability is introduced for traffic conditioning. A distributed power control algorithm is also presented. The performance of these processes has been simulated.
