Abstract :
The method of unrelated illumination is used to reconstruct the complex permittivities of three-dimensional inhomogeneous dielectric bodies. Starting from the integral representation of the electric field and using the moment method, the body is illuminated by a group of unrelated incident fields. Computer simulations show that the method can be used to overcome the severe ill-posedness of the three-dimensional problem even in the presence of noise and with the use of only one detector to measure the external scattered field. The effect of changing the cell size on the accuracy of the reconstruction has been studied together with the validity of the method in the presence of strong and weak scatterers.
