Abstract :
We present several novel asynchronous FIFOs that can be used for long-distance on-chip communication. All FIFOs are based on GasP circuits with GasP repeaters. We have designed the GasP circuits and GasP repeaters such that their forward latencies match the forward latencies of the latches and repeaters in the data path. Simulation results show that, when data must be moved over long distances with minimal latency, these novel GasP FIFOs with GasP repeaters perform substantially better than traditional GasP FIFOs without repeaters.
