Abstract :
The fluorescent properties of dysprosium-doped yttrium vanadate (YVO4:Dy3+) phosphors in powder form for potential use in remote high-temperature sensing applications are investigated. A fluorescence lifetime decay versus temperature calibration curve is presented and has been calibrated against US National Bureau of Standards temperature calibration instruments. The research shows that dysprosium-doped yttrium vanadate thermographic phosphors have a specified temperature sensing range from 325°C to 400°C. The technique used for making temperature measurements and for obtaining calibration curves of YVO4:Dy3+ is discussed. In addition, emphasis is placed on the application of thermographic phosphor measurements in the industrial domain and in laboratory research
