Abstract :
There has been a lot of research into XML query optimization. In this paper, we focus on several techniques for XML semantic query optimization, which improve the query execution based on the information abstracted from the XML documents. The optimization methods will be discussed in two groups: optimization based on structure and optimization based on content. The query optimization mechanisms of each optimization method are discussed and compared.
