  • Abstract
This paper presents an improved cellular automaton model for symmetric two-lane traffic. Based on existing models, the modified model incorporates anticipation effects, sensitive driving technique and information interaction synthetically. Various empirically observed two-lane phenomena, like the meta-stable states, are reproduced in the modified model. An increase in traffic capacity is observed, especially in high density areas. The number of lane-changing also increases.
