  • Abstract
The analysis of wave scattering from a penetrable wedge is important in a variety of applications. The cases of plane-wave and line-source illumination have been studied in the past through use of the surface impedance boundary condition. The 3D case of point-source excitation has been handled by means of a heuristic UTD technique. Recently, scattering by a coastal wedge, illuminated by an electric dipole parallel to the edge, was studied through a physical-optics (PO) approximation (Papadopoulos and Chrissoulidis, 1996). Here, we follow this earlier formulation to study both electric and magnetic dipole radiation over an obtuse wedge. The dipole axis is either parallel or on a plane normal to the edge. Fictitious line sources are introduced along the edge to provide a correction to the PO field. Uniform expressions for the scattered field are obtained through use of stationary point integration techniques. Numerical results for a coastal wedge are presented.
