Abstract :
There is vast territory in Sichuan province, but its per capita land area is lower than the average level of whole nation, and the serious contradiction between man and land always exists. So the study on the land use/cover condition and its dynamic change in Sichuan province is very important, which is also the significance of the paper. By advanced RS and GIS technology, the study centers around the main line of sustainable development key issues - human driving forces - sustainable development scientific decision and expand deeply. With the multi-band TM Remote Sensing images in 1995 and 2005, the construction of land use database and the analysis of the data in Sichuan province had been finished. From the view of dynamic, during 25 years, the increasing speeds of forest, fruit forest and construction land are faster than other land use types. Considering the driving factors, the first is the great pressure of populations, the second is the popularizing and implementing of the policy of returning farmland to forest and grassland, and the third is the fast economic development, which all directly effect the degree and trend of the land use/cover dynamic change in Sichuan province.
