Abstract :
In this article, broad-band THz pulses generated in LiNbO3 by tilted-pulse-front excitation and launched to free space are characterized. A plane THz wave was generated in the crystal by the tilted-pulse-front excitation beam having a beam diameter of about 0.8 mm. Accordingly, the divergence of the THz beam calculated from the energy distribution measured at 10 cm behind the LiNbO3 crystal was only 50 mrad.
