Abstract
SCPC and TDMA satellite communication systems of meshed network configurations are studied. In SCPC, Earth station transmission power of a channel is controlled to minimize transponder power, keeping the required communication quality. With TDMA, transmission burst bit rate is controlled to maximize transponder capacity. Using cost models of Earth stations and transponders, sets of equations to optimize receiving performances (G/T) of Earth stations are derived. The equations are solved and the total system cost including a transponder and Earth stations is minimized
