Abstract :
This paper presents the results for a MIMO antenna embedded with an EBG structure. The EBG structure consists of slots loaded in the conventional mushroom EBG and exhibits a better surface-wave decoupling performance. The compact EBG structure is analyzed and its dispersion diagram is extracted. The EBG structure dimensions are optimized and inserted between the monopole antennas to reduce the mutual coupling between them. This method is verified by the ADS simulations and a significant -36 dB mutual coupling reduction is noticed from the simulations. The other metrics like correlation coefficient and diversity gain are found to be in appreciable level.
