Abstract :
This paper shows that the magnetrons are widely used microwave sources due to advantages of low cost and high efficiency. Two- and three-dimensional simulation studies have been performed on the A6 relativistic magnetron developed at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Experimental and simulation reports of magnetic priming effects for microwave oven magnetron and relativistic magnetrons have been published. It investigated the frequency tunable A6 relativistic magnetron with metal tuner. Inductive tuning is accomplished by inserting conducting rods axially into the resonators in regions where the RF magnetic field is high. In this paper, we discuss the operating characteristics of a frequency tunable relativistic magnetron by the use of a three dimensional PIC code and MAGIC3D.
