Abstract :
A gas-loaded Smith-Purcell free-electron laser was studied in the way of a two-dimensional particle-in-cell simulation. The configuration is composed of an open grating and a vacuum chamber loaded with nitrogen gas. We founded that an appropriate pressure of gas could enhance the beam-wave interaction to improve the growth rate.
