Abstract :
Low-temperature operation of a closed loop three level buck DC-to-DC power converter with charge pump controller has been experimentally investigated. The power converter system has been designed and built with standard commercially available components. Performance characteristics such as efficiency and regulation are studied for different temperatures from 25°C down to -184°C. CMOSICs, MOSFET switches and ultrafast diodes prove to be suited to operate in a wide temperature range. The performance of the output filter inductor and capacitor does not change significantly at 77°K compared to room temperature
