Abstract
A nonlinear phenomenon in a closed-loop pulsed-width modulated buck converter is analyzed to gain an understanding about the properties of nonlinearities in electrical power systems that exhibit a high degree of power electronic devices. MATLAB/Simulink is utilized to build a simulation model that has been compared to experimental results in order to validate the model. The buck converter model will be exposed to an input voltage swing, and the nonlinear behavior will be analyzed. Bifurcation analysis is discussed as a tool to design power electronics systems because the bifurcation points are sensitive to the parameter values which determine the performance of the system.
