Abstract :
An approximate method is developed to obtain the performance metrics of a flexible manufacturing system consisting of a circular conveyor and workstations placed around the conveyor. Each workstation consists of a single machine subject to breakdowns. The service, failure, and repair times are assumed to be exponentially distributed. The authors validate the results obtained by the approximate method with simulation
