Abstract :
This paper presents the performances of an innovative electrical propulsion system based on High Torque Density Induction motors driven by transformerless 6,6kV and 3,3kV Medium Voltage PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) drives offering a 100% power redundancy. The Variable Speed Drive benefits from the MV7000 HDI (Hard Drive Induction) latest developments, in particular the NPP (Neutral Point Piloted) topology. The back-to-back arrangement of this drive allows a transformerless architecture together with the capability to regenerate power to the network and to optimize generator design. This advanced architecture will optimize efficiency, power quality, availability, space and compactness.
