Abstract :
We address the problem of non-uniform, planar array design with an emphasis on imaging applications. Based on the theory of minimum redundancy arrays, we propose an iterative algorithm that is capable to design highly thinned arrays with a low side-lobe level while retaining the half-power-beam- width of an uniform rectangular array. The computational complexity of the proposed method is substantially lower than for existing methods. The algorithm is applied to real data to demonstrate the effectiveness of the method.
