Abstract :
In this paper, the gain measurements and lasing action at 2.8 μm and fluorescence spectroscopy in Er:LaF3 planar waveguides fabricated by molecular beam epitaxy was demonstrated. The spectroscopic analysis shows that fluorescence lifetimes calculated by a Judd-Ofelt model based on the measured absorption spectra were in good agreement with measured fluorescence lifetimes.
