Abstract
Wavelength conversion at 9.953 Gb/s has been achieved in an integrated SOA/DFB laser for the very low input power of 0.71 nW. Eye cleaning has been demonstrated, allowing the possibility of negative penalty operation. Transmission of the converted signal over 375 km of non-zero dispersion shifted fibre has been achieved with no additional power penalty
