Abstract :
To receive high-speed data using the IS-95B CDMA standard, mobile receivers simultaneously demodulate multiple CDMA channels. We propose a two-tier approach to combating multipath noise and improving the performance in such systems: pilot multipath noise cancellation (MNC) reconstructs the pilot multipath noise and removes it from each finger of each RAKE receiver, and partial decorrelation (PD) accounts for multicode multipath noise using a linear transformation at the output of the bank of RAKE receivers. For an L=3 multipath/finger multicode receiver demodulating a quarter of the total downlink channels, the MNC-PD detector provides a 9% increase in downlink capacity compared to a conventional detector
