Abstract :
Fabrication of difference frequency generation (DFG) devices with 3 dB conversion loss and bandwidths >60 nm in the 1.5 /spl mu/m band will be described. Also "cascade" devices which mimic four-wave mixing with two sequential three-wave mixing processes are presented. Applications to conversion of single and multiple channels within the 1.5 /spl mu/m band, symmetrical conversion from 1.3 /spl mu/m to 1.5 /spl mu/m and 1.5 /spl mu/m to 1.3 /spl mu/m, and dispersion compensation of four 10 Gbit/s channels over 150 km will also be presented.
