Abstract :
This paper discusses the proposed educational “mission” for the Advanced Gas Turbine Systems Research (AGTSR) program. Based on the positive response of the AGTSR Educational Panel meeting at the November 1994 Advanced Turbine Systems (ATS) Annual Review, the AGTSR program is planning to broaden the AGTSR Internship and Fellowship programs beginning in fiscal year 1996. A pilot industrial internship program was initiated in June, 1995 targeting top-notch seniors and first or second year graduate students. The AGTSR Industry Review Board selected six interns out of thirteen applications. One intern is positioned at each of the sponsoring companies. Three trial undergraduate honor fellowships were awarded in fiscal year 1995, one each at the University of Minnesota, Clarkson and Clemson University. This paper briefly summarizes the AGTSR consortium program and the anticipated benefits and implementation plan for the AGTSR expanded educational “mission”
