Abstract :
Open information on about 200 Chinese radars including earlier radars is now available. By number of model types China is an important radar country. This Chinese radar survey paper shows that Chinese radars cover a wide spectrum of civilian and military applications. Chinese civilian radars include air-borne weather avoidance/navigation, air traffic control (ASR, ARSR, GCA, SSR), harbor surveillance, industrial applications, marine, meteorological/wind profilers, police, remote sensing, space tracking and vessel traffic management, etc. Military applications include AEW, airborne, and ground fire control, altimeters, battlefield surveillance, counterbattery, OTH, shipborne surface search/low altitude tactical 3-D, shipborne 3-D phase scanning, early warning, etc. The paper will include copious photographs and descriptions of many Chinese radars. Several Chinese millimeter wave radars will be described. Some Chinese “derivative radars” based on radars of other countries will be cited
