Abstract :
The basic idea of the method for shape learning is presented. Each shape is hierarchically characterized with singularities (local extrema) of wavelet transform of its tangential orientation function. By taking the common structure of the singularities of two or more shapes, the common characteristics of the input shapes are obtained. Through this operation, not only the rough outline of a shape but also several important characteristics of shapes are acquired
